The Monterey Bay Pipe Band Celebrates 40^th Anniversary

December 5, 2002, Monterey, CA – The Monterey Bay Pipe Band is celebrating its 40^th anniversary this year. Established in 1962, the Monterey Bay Pipe Band is the only organized pipe band in Monterey County that actively competes throughout the Western United States. It is a highly respected, award-wining band that frequently performs for private parties and public events. Under the leadership of Pipe Major Michel d’Avenas, the band has been very successful in recent years and received a first-place award at the premier Scottish Highland Games in Pleasanton, California in 2001. Michel d’Avenas has taught bagpiping locally for over 30 years to both youth and adults.
